Visiting The Forbidden City and Beijing City Tour

Today we had a non-stop tour of Beijing. After meeting Helen, our personal guide - we first toured Tiananmen Square (which translates as The Gate of Heavenly Peace). It was a beautiful Saturday morning and the square was full of tourists. We were struck by the shear size of the square. From the square we went under the adjacent street and came out at the entrance to the Forbidden City. We walked through The Forbidden City and toured many sections of the various buildings. By the time we left The Forbidden City and the Moat on the other side it was about 1 and a half to two hours later - it was huge, and we didn't even tour each side of it, it looked like you could get lost in there. We even found out that there are 9,999 and a half roofs in the entire Forbidden City ! After this we were whisked off to an authentic Chinese Lunch which was very good ! We then were treated to a bicycle rickshaw tour of the old part of Beijing which gave us a glimpse of how the locals live day to day. Finally we headed for The Chaoyang Theater and took in an entertaining acrobatics show which included a bike ridden by ten acrobats at once among other things. It was a very busy day and we were glad to be back in our room to get some sleep. Tomorrow we will head for The Great Wall...

Had to get up early to see what you've been doing. How exciting. Does Kyle like all the things he's seeing? Did he eat the Chinese lunch? I bet you're all really tired. Get some rest, you've got our baby coming. I can't wait to look at the pictures.
Take care of yourselves and eachother...

I second Nancy's question about Kyle eating the Chinese lunch -- but I really want to know if Pam ate it or chose her fallback meal while in China: M&Ms, Coke and white rice? Hmmm!

Glad you're able to see and do so much ... I imagine you're counting the hours until you get to meet your beautiful girl? All of us McAlliburgers are so excited for your expanding family!

No, Kyle did not eat he lunch. He tried the Kung Pao chicken, but it was too spicy. He ate a couple of bites of rice. Luckily, I packed some snacks. I did eat some os the meal. I ate the chicken and there was a sweet and sour pork like thing. The pork tasted different. It was OK.I have not yet eaten any M&Ms, but last night we ordered dinner in the hotel room and I had ice cream. Kyle was so tired when w got back here he did not want to leave again, so we orereed him some pizza from room service. He fell asleep before it came and we could not wake him up. Luckily they have a big breakfast buffet here and w eeat a lot in the morning. Tonight we are goin out for Peking Duck. Where are those M&ms!!??
